Photo Lab Policy
Access and Agreements for Photography Labs and Equipment
- Eligibility: In order to have access to the Photography Labs and Equipment you must be one of the following Photography Majors, Minors, or students currently enrolled in a Photography course.
- Agreement Forms: Before using any space or checking out equipment, you must sign the Equipment and Facilities Use Agreement at the start of every academic year or semester if only enrolled in a Photography course.
- Lab Fees: You must have authorized lab access tier via paid lab fees and possess the correct course prerequisites. These are listed below.
Access Tiers (Course Prerequisites)
- Basic Access (PHOT-105/PHOT-110 Prerequisite): Covers standard 35mm SLRs, medium format film systems, basic speedlights, light meters, and B&W darkroom access. PHOT-110 students also receive Digital Labs A-06, D-03 Access.
- Digital Access (PHOT-210/PHOT-111 Prerequisite): Gives access to full-frame DSLR/mirrorless digital cameras and Digital Labs A-06 & D-03.
- Digital Mural Access (PHOT-211 Prerequisite): Gives accessto E-08 Lab , 44" Epson P9000/9900 printers, addtional mirrorless/digital medium format cameras and Capture station.
- Large Format Access (PHOT-220 Prerequisite): Gives access to 4x5 and 8x10 field/view cameras.
- Lighting Studio Access (PHOT-222 Prerequisite): Gives access to G-06 Lighitng Studio, Profoto Equipment, and Advanced Lighitng Equipment.
- Non-Silver Access (PHOT-415 Prerequisite): Gives access to non silver darkrooms with chemistry.
Equipment Reservations
Reservation Process:- Download the PDF reservation form, fill out the top section completely, and check-off what you would like to checkout
- Save as PDF and email it to techoffice@pratt.edu
- Send between 10AM and 6PM Monday–Thursday and between 10AM and 4PM Friday
Same-day reservations are not permitted
- Pick-up and Return: Monday - Thursday 10AM - 6PM and Friday 10AM - 4PM
There is no equipment pick-up or return on the weekends
- Loan Duration: Standard checkout is 7 days. You may request a single 7-day extension via email at least 24 hours before your due date.
Lab Appointments
You MUST have an appointment to use any lab space- Use the specific YouCanBookMe link for the piece of equipment you are looking to u
- Select the appointment duration, then the day, then the start time
Appointments can be made from between 2 weeks to 30 minutes in advance
- Frequency: 1 active appointment per lab type (ex. film processing, scanner, printer); maximum 3 sessions per week
- No-Shows: If you are more than 30-minutes late, your appointment will be marked as a NO-SHOW, and automatically cancelled
- Cancellations: Please cancel your appointment if you know you will be unable to make it; you can cancel appointments through your confirmation email from YouCanBookMe
