Below you’ll find information about anything new and exciting happening within the Photography Department labs and facilities.


GROUP DARKROOM

+ A new film-developing sink with built-in temperature control units and four taps on each side, allowing more students to develop film at one time

+ 15 new Beseler 11x14 easels, additional trays, grain focusers, new drying racks + a second squeegee board

+ PHOT 105 students will receive a starter pack of fiber paper from their teacher


NON-SILVER LAB

+ A new ten-foot-six-inch-long sink for chemistry with a four-foot-long whirlpool wash basin has been installed


LIGHTING STUDIO

+ Due to an increase in demand, the studio will now be fully partitioned during open lab hours, doubling the amount of available time

+ 3 Sony A7R V (part of a new loan agreement with Sony)


DIGITAL LABS

+ D3 now has a Digital Capture station from Digital Transitions with a Fuji GFX 100 II

+ To use any cmputer in the photography department you must now log in with your pratt username and password



STORAGE

+ Due to increasing demand for storage and better space utilization, the department commissioned 6 birchwood tables for the UG Digital Labs

+ tables include custom cubbies for roll paper up to 24 inches + four have a lightbox inlaid on the tabletop

+ 4 Toyo Field Cameras for MFA students


MFA STUDIOS, GALLERY, CRIT SPACE

The MFA facilities are moving to Dock 72 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The MFA Photography wing houses 20 brand new studios (three of which will be open to use for additional gallery or critique space), a large seminar/critique space and a 1550 square foot gallery space dedicated to the program. The communal spaces that are open to both Photography and Fine Arts include a wood shop, metal shop, spray booth, kitchen and common room.
