Photography Gallery

One of the Photography Department’s premiere spaces is our 1500 square foot gallery. It features adjustable track lighting, and dual in-ceiling projection and speaker systems. We also have a variety of A/V equipment available for check out through the Tech Office such as flat screen monitors, additional projectors, iPads, headphones, and more.

Throughout the fall of each year, the gallery features the Photography Department’s Open Call Exhibitions. There are typically five to seven solo or group exhibitions, by current students and alumni, that have been carefully curated by a faculty-led committee.

In the spring, the gallery is home to the Thesis Exhibitions of the Department’s BFA program. From the end of January through the beginning of May, each week a group of students will exhibit their degree-culminating body of work.

Gallery hours are 11am to 5pm. If you wish to have the gallery open after hours please contact techoffice@pratt.edu. Requests will be reviewed and allowed dependent on Photography Department staffing during that time.

A Note about Tolerance and Respect

The Photography Gallery is a social space of public exchange that supports student learning. The department’s expectations for how people come together in this space is to acknowledge that artworks open pathways for inquiry and within that space different perspectives co-exist. The department requires that students demonstrate respect for artworks and each other at all times. Feedback and reflection are a necessary part of the learning process. When students exhibit in the gallery we ask that they show up ready to listen and participate in modes of engagement that build upon trust in our community.

For behavior that demonstrates intolerance and may warrant a formal complaint, students can refer to Pratt’s Policies and Community Standards available here.
