Dock 72







Photography graduate students have individual studios near the main Brooklyn campus at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in building, Dock 72.

Individual studios are assigned for both years of the program with dedicated fabrication shops, a 1500 square foot gallery space just for the photography program, classroom for seminars and critiques, student lounge and kitchen. There is a free shuttle that runs during the week, in addition to the Brooklyn Navy Yard shuttle.

The Dock 72 Manual is a document that gives a basic overview of the specific policies and procedures at Dock 72 for Photography MFA Students that Photography MFA Students will need to know and follow during your time at Pratt.  These are highlights and not a comprehensive list of Pratt’s general policies. Please follow up wit the apporiate Staff with any questions.

Public Transportation to Dock 72


  • The Brooklyn Navy Yard operates a shuttle service with two separate lines that stop right in front of Dock 72. 
  • Information about these shuttles can be found here.

  • Pratt Institute also operates a shuttle from the Main campus to Dock 72.  
  • The schedule can be found here. In the Navy Yard, the shuttle picks you up from the parking lot of the Dock 72 building. NOTE: The Pratt shuttle only operates on days that spring and fall semester classes are running.

  • The NYC Ferry stops right in front of Dock 72 and is a great way to travel between Manhattan and Dock 72.  It is the “Brooklyn Navy Yard” stop on the Astoria line.
